At Building Blocks Psychology, we believe that every child’s wellbeing is made up of many interconnected elements — their unique building blocks. By understanding how internal biological factors, family life, and cultural influences shape growth and development, we can support each child from the foundation up.
We see children as whole, dynamic individuals — not as behaviours to “fix,” but as people to understand, nurture, and empower.

At Building Blocks Psychology, our mission is to provide compassionate, comprehensive, and evidence-based care that helps families understand their child’s unique challenges. We focus on improving mental health and overall wellbeing through practical, effective, and developmentally appropriate assessment and intervention.

We take a personalized approach to assessment and intervention, ensuring that every plan is thoughtfully tailored to meet the unique needs of each child and family.
Our services include comprehensive assessments and evidence-based interventions. Each method is chosen to support growth, resilience, and lasting wellbeing.
Children grow best when their minds, bodies, and hearts are supported together. Holistic psychology takes this whole-child approach — looking beyond behaviours to understand what a child truly needs to feel balanced, calm, and connected.
At Building Blocks Psychology, holistic practices are woven into assessment and intervention to nurture emotional well-being, strengthen relationships, and support natural development.
Some holistic approaches that can help children include:
Mindfulness and Breathing
Simple mindfulness activities and calming breaths help children slow down, focus, and manage big emotions.
Play Therapy
Play is how children make sense of their world. Through play, they can express feelings, solve problems, and build confidence in a safe, supportive space.
Nature and Movement
Spending time outdoors, exploring, or engaging in gentle movement like yoga helps children release energy, reduce stress, and connect with their bodies.
Nutrition and the Gut-Brain Connection
What children eat can affect how they feel and focus. Supporting healthy eating and gut health can improve mood, attention, and overall well-being.
Family Connection
Children thrive when their caregivers feel supported too. Parent coaching and family-based strategies help create calm, consistent routines and stronger relationships at home.
Emotional Regulation Tools
Grounding exercises, calming music, or sensory supports like weighted blankets can help children feel safe and centered when emotions run high.
Strengths-Based Support
Every child has unique gifts. Focusing on strengths and interests builds confidence, resilience, and a sense of pride in who they are.
Holistic psychology helps children grow from the inside out — supporting emotional balance, healthy habits, and strong family connections that last a lifetime.
