Assessments

Assessments are customized to address each child’s unique needs and questions, often taking place over several sessions. When appropriate, an in-person observation in the child’s school setting is also arranged to gain additional insight. After the assessment is complete, results are carefully reviewed, and a detailed, comprehensive report is provided.

As the amount of time and number of tools used to conduct each assessment can vary depending on your referral question, please contact us for pricing estimates.

*All services are provided at a rate of $220/hr, which is in line with the recommended fee schedules for psychologist, outlined by the Psychology Association of Alberta.

Child Psychological Assessments

Is your child struggling and you want to better understand what's causing it? Click the image below to learn more.

Autism Spectrum Disorder Assessment

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental condition that affects how a child communicates, interacts with others, and experiences the world around them. Every child with autism is unique—some may find social situations or changes in routine challenging, while others may have strong interests or special talents.

Autism is  a different way of thinking and learning. With understanding, early support, and the right environment, children with ASD can thrive and reach their full potential.

ADHD Assessment

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a condition that affects how children focus, manage their energy, and control impulses. Every child with ADHD is different—some may have trouble paying attention, others may be very active or act before thinking, and some experience a mix of both.

ADHD doesn’t mean a child isn’t capable or intelligent. It simply means their brain works in a way that needs a bit of extra support and structure.

Psycho-educational Assessment

A psychoeducational assessment helps parents understand how their child learns and what might be making school more challenging. It looks at areas such as thinking skills, memory, attention, problem-solving, and academic abilities like reading, writing, and math.

The assessment also explores emotional and behavioral factors that may affect learning. The goal is to identify your child’s strengths and areas where they may need extra support.

Social-Emotional Assessment

Social-emotional challenges can affect how a child understands and manages their feelings, gets along with others, and handles everyday situations. A child may have trouble making friends, controlling emotions, coping with frustration, or feeling confident.

These challenges are common and can happen for many reasons. With understanding, support, and guidance, children can learn healthy ways to express themselves, build positive relationships, and develop strong emotional skills.

Developmental Assessment

Developmental delays happen when a child takes longer than expected to reach milestones in areas like speech, movement, learning, or social skills. Every child develops at their own pace, but sometimes extra support is needed to help them catch up.

A developmental assessment looks at how a child is growing and learning in different areas. It helps identify strengths, areas that need support, and the best ways to encourage progress.

Behavioural Assessment

Behaviour challenges can show up when a child has difficulty managing emotions, following rules, or responding to expectations at home or school. This might look like frequent outbursts, defiance, withdrawal, or trouble getting along with others.

A behaviour assessment helps parents and professionals understand why these behaviours are happening. It looks at triggers, patterns, and the child’s environment to identify what supports are needed.
